The skeleton of a Mountain bike is the frame, it is also the foundation of a mountain bike. It’s this that makes all the other MTB components together. The parts of the mountain bike frame are the top tube, the head tube, the down tube, the seat tube, and the seat stay. Each MTB Frame was made having a particular Mountain Biking types in mind; for example, there are cross-country MTB frames,  Downhill MTB frames, free ride MTB  frames and dirt jump MTB frames.

We all know that when we talk about brakes, its purpose is always to stop a bike but do you know that mountain bike brakes have other functions too? Besides stopping your MTB when needed, the MTB Brakes also support in maneuvering your mountain bike and keeping it in balance. There are two types of Mountain bike brakes, the disc breaks and the rim breaks.


MTB Handlebar is at the top front part of your bike that you use to steer it. It comes in different shapes and styles and can be made of aluminum alloy, steel, carbon fiber or titanium. It can be flat, riser or low riser handlebar, depending on the need of the rider. Titanium is also used.


Mountain bike grips are attached to the MTB’s handlebar and one of the contact points on the bike. Commonly this is made of soft and durable rubber.


The mountain bike rims are made from the exclusively-designed wire-spoke system, made of light-weight and sturdy materials mainly for off-road riding. Mountain bike tires are typically made of rubber, today most of the bike tires have Kevlar in it, this makes the tire durable and at the same time light-weight. The tire is attached to the rims though its bids. There are two types of mountain bike tire, the tubular and the clincher. Their different tires surface depending on the terrain where it’s going to be used.


The mountain bike chain transfers power from the pedals to the rear wheel of an MTB, which makes it turns. It connects the gears at the rear wheel to the chairing.


The Crank or crankset is the MTB component that makes the rotating movement of the biker’s legs into spinning motion of the chain, which will move the back wheel. It contains several or just one sprocket. Different crank sizes are depending on the biker’s height or needs.


One of the three contact point on a Mountain bike, pedals is what the rider pushes with their feet to propel the bicycle. It is connected to the end of the crank. There are a few types of mountain bike pedals; it can be the regular or the basic, Advanced Platform, Cage Style or Toe Clips and the clipless.


The shifter is the small device placed on the handlebar, next to the MTB grips, close to the brake lever. This device is connected to the derailleur with a cable that shifts the chain to all the bikes cogs or chainrings. It can be in the form of thumb shifter, rapid fire shifter, or grip shifter.


A Mountain bike saddle or seat is connected to the seat post. It is one of the three contact points on an MTB (grips, pedals, saddle). Typically, this can be adjusted backward or forward.


The MTB Seatpost is the tube which stretches upwards from your Mountain bike frame to your seat/saddle.


The mountain bike stem is the part of the MTB which links the handlebar to the steerer-tube of the Mountain bike fork.


A Mountain bike fork is the part of the MTB that holds its front wheel; it also lets the biker control as well as balance the Mountain bike. It has a shock-absorber that can either be spring suspension or air suspension.
